Economic and Ecological Design of Hybrid Renewable Energy Systems Based on a Developed IWO/BSA Algorithm

In this paper, an optimal design of a microgrid including four houses in Dakhla city (Morocco) is proposed. To make study comprehensive and applicable to any hybrid system, each house has different configuration renewable energies. The configurations these are PV/wind turbine (WT)/biomass/battery, PV/biomass, PV/diesel/battery, WT/diesel/battery systems. comparison factor among the cost energy (COE), comparative index, where load houses. Otherwise, main objective function minimization net present (NPC), subject several operating constraints, power loss, generated by sources (renewable fraction), availability. This achieved using developed optimization algorithm. contribution paper propose apply new technique for considering economic ecological aspects. algorithm based on hybridization two metaheuristic algorithms, invasive weed (IWO) backtracking search (BSA), with aim collecting advantages both. proposed (IWO/BSA) compared original methods (IWO BSA) as well other well-known methods. results indicate that PV/biomass PV/diesel/battery systems have best IWO/BSA 0.1184 $/kWh 0.1354 $/kWh, respectively. system its LCOE which represents NPC 124,689 $, size 349.55 m2 PV area capacity biomass 18.99 ton/year. option also good results, 142,233 about 391.39 area, rated diesel generator 0.55 kW, battery 12.97 kWh. convergence all cases. It observed wind generates more dumped power, highly suitable studied area.
